November 01, 2014-November 20, 2014 Toys for Tots Registration

9th Annual Wiregrass Toys for Tots Registration is going on now until Nov. 20. To sign up for this year’s program, dial 2-1-1 (toll free) on your phone or 1-888-421-1266 between 9am – 4 pm only, Mon. – Fri. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during the year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to children who may not have had the opportunity of receiving gifts. The primary goal is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to these children and to motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders. If you would like to donate to this year’s Toys For Tots program, be a drop off location for donated new toys, or for additional information, call Toys for Tots Coordinator Mike Walton at (334)712-6843.

November 01, 2014 Landmark Park’s Dulcimer Club Monthly Jam Session

Landmark Park’s Dulcimer Club Monthly Jam Session held 1pm the first Saturday of each month at Landmark Park. Participants must have a mountain dulcimer and no experience is necessary. Wiregrass Hope Group’s Annual Fundraising Dinner beginning at 6pm at Wiregrass Church, 900 W. Main St. This year’s guest speaker will be Star Parker, the founder and president of CURE (Center for Urban Renewal and Education) which is a nonprofit think tank that promotes market based public policy to fight poverty. Hors d’oeuvres served from 6pm to 6:25pm, dinner and program at 6:30pm. The dinner is complimentary and dress is Sunday attire. An opportunity to make a financial gift will be extended. Wiregrass Hope is a resource for extending hope and healing to individuals and families by offering practical assistance, addressing emotional needs and encouraging spiritual growth.
