November 06, 2014 Wiregrass Hope Group’s Annual Fundraising Dinner

Wiregrass Hope Group’s Annual Fundraising Dinner beginning at 6pm at Wiregrass Church, 900 W. Main St. This year’s guest speaker will be Star Parker, the founder and president of CURE (Center for Urban Renewal and Education) which is a nonprofit think tank that promotes market based public policy to fight poverty. Hors d’oeuvres served from 6pm to 6:25pm, dinner and program at 6:30pm. The dinner is complimentary and dress is Sunday attire. An opportunity to make a financial gift will be extended. Wiregrass Hope is a resource for extending hope and healing to individuals and families by offering practical assistance, addressing emotional needs and encouraging spiritual growth. The community is invited to join area middle and high school students for this annual robotics competition. Wiregrass Museum of Arts’ Printmaking Workshop from 6-8pm at Wiregrass Museum of Art, 126 Museum Ave. After seeing the prints in WMA’s new exhibit, “Drawn to Abstraction,” adults will spend three Tuesdays learning the basics of printmaking from Troy University Professor Beverly Leach, carving your own linoleum blocks and making prints with WMA’s printing press! November 15, 2014 Homeless Stand Down/Connect

Homeless Stand Down/Connect from 10am – 2pm at the United Christian Fellowship at 208 E. Lafayette St. The Southeast Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (SEACH) is hosting this event to provide assistance to the homeless. They are reaching out to the Wiregrass community for help with volunteers as well as donations for items needed which include coats, clothes, socks, combs, hair brushes, blankets, sleeping bags, personal hygiene items, tents, dry food, and can food. Donations can be dropped off at the Wiregrass United Way 2-1-1 office (545 W. Main St., Suite 313) Mon.-Fri., 8am – 4:30pm until Nov. 13. 36th Annual Nutcracker performance by the Southeast Alabama Dance Company at the Dothan Civic Center.
