Back to the Sixties… The Association in concert at Elba High School (videos)
The Elba High School auditorium was packed out last night to hear The Association, a popular 1960s band behind hits like “Along Comes Mary,” “Cherish” and “Never My Love.”
Original band members Jim Yester, Russ Giguere and Larry Ramos were joined onstage by some newer members, including Jordan Cole, the son of original “Associate” (as they like to call themselves) Brian Cole. The band has been actively recording and touring since 1965, apart from a short disbanding in the late 1970s.

Original band members Jim Yester and Russ Giguere signed a few items for fans like Laura Stakelum of Dothan.
Humble and very aware of their age, Yester and Giguere cracked plenty of jokes onstage about sharing their Flowmax (a prostate medicine) and their legacy in the 60s — “And I’m NOT talking about the 1860s,” Yester quickly pointed out. A native of Birmingham, Yester drew a lot of cheers when he launched into the opening chords of “Sweet Home Alabama” on his guitar before abruptly switching to the opening of a different song.
The Association has played over 2,000 concerts and made TV appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show, The Smothers Brothers Show, The Johnny Carson Show, American Bandstand and others over the past four decades. The performance was hosted by the Coffee County Arts Alliance and sponsored by the Enterprise Medical Clinic.

They were very much part of 60's life, sorry I missed this one.
Fantastic!
Thanks, Nick, for the report on the Association concert and the great videos. They might not sing quite as well as they used to, after all, they are a little bit older, but they were as entertaining as ever. The 2012 Association is still a great "Six Man Band." http://www.dothanmagazine.com/2012/01/13/back-to-the-sixties-the-association-in-concert-at-elba-high-school-videos/.
